LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- In celebration of Earth Day on Monday, volunteers came together to clean up at the Falls of the Ohio State Park.

The effort was organized by Leadership Southern Indiana for a second year. About 30 people showed up to clean up litter along the banks of the Ohio.

The volunteers were grateful for the good weather, and said it's a good way to help preserve the environment for future generations.

"It's just an honor to be here, to give back a little bit, we're very fortunate to be in the area that we are, and we have a lot of great things in this area so this is just one small thing we can do to secure a bright future," said David Smith, relationship development officer at Leadership Southern Indiana.

Volunteers said they removed tree limbs, plastic waste, and even an aluminum boat during the cleanup on Monday.
